Deadlines & how to apply
FOUR DIFFERENT PROGRAMS IN FOUR DIFFERENT STATES. Do not treat Atlantic Canada as one market here. NOVA SCOTIA: Workplace Innovation and Productivity Skills Incentive (WIPSI) exists but is CLOSED between intakes. Guidelines (effective May 1, 2025) set two intakes per year, April and October, at up to 75% of eligible costs. The live page still advertises an April 1, 2026 intake, which is stale; the next intake should be October 2026 but confirm before promising a date. NEW BRUNSWICK: Labour Force Training (WorkingNB / PETL) is OPEN and continuous. Maximum government contribution $20,000 per employer, per region, per fiscal year. Applications must exceed $1,000 before HST and must be approved BEFORE training starts. There is no separately branded Canada-New Brunswick Job Grant anymore. PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND: Workplace Skills Training (SkillsPEI) is OPEN and continuous with no deadline, contributing up to 50% of direct training costs (page modified Mar 3, 2026). NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR: the Canada-NL Job Grant is SUSPENDED until further notice due to a reduction in federal funding, and has been since May 2024. New applications are not being accepted and there is no successor employer training grant. NL employers should look at wage subsidies and the Employment Enhancement Program instead.
