Deadlines & how to apply
Open and rolling year round, no fixed deadlines. $20,000 to $1,000,000 per year (NSERC share) over one to five years. The UNIVERSITY researcher submits in partnership with the company, not the company itself. Alliance has been simplified into two principal streams: Alliance Advantage (formerly Option 1) and Alliance Society (formerly Option 2, for work at the intersection of natural sciences or engineering and society). NOTE: themed calls do NOT follow rolling intake. The most prominent active themed call as of mid-2026 is Alliance Quantum, which requires a mandatory letter of intent and has fixed deadlines. Also note NSERC paused intake of extension-with-additional-funds requests for existing Alliance Advantage grants as of February 2025.
